Delaware Transit Corporation Long-time Growth Leads to Long-term Success

Delaware Transit Corporation (DTC), operating as DART First State, runs a statewide fleet of a little over 500 buses and 100+ support vehicles and needed to modernize decades-old fleet systems to maximize uptime, control costs, and support new vehicle technologies. Key challenges included replacing legacy software, better integrating fuel and fluids tracking, improving timekeeping and parts/accident workflows, and preparing operationally for electric and autonomous vehicle pilots.

DTC upgraded to AssetWorks FleetFocus (with FuelFocus in place and FluidFocus forthcoming), conducted a Business Process Review to streamline workflows and training, and worked closely with AssetWorks project teams. The result: faster, more user‑friendly maintenance screens, consolidated fuel management and time savings (less manual data entry), stronger ad-hoc reporting for fleet decisions, and improved ability to track costs and scale pilots—including 14 Proterra electric buses and autonomous vehicle testing—positioning DTC for greater efficiency and future growth.
