A AssetWorks Case Study

Preview of the City of Ventura Case Study

City of Ventura - Customer Case Study

The City of Ventura’s Fleet and Facilities Manager, Mary Joyce Ivers, oversees a municipal fleet of 327 on‑road and 67 off‑road vehicles with a $2.9M operating budget and one maintenance facility. Her challenge was to maintain accountability, control costs and modernize operations—especially after a supervisory retirement and technician frustration with legacy labor‑capture tools—while continuing to deliver reliable service across city departments.

Ivers addressed this by leveraging long‑standing use of AssetWorks FleetFocus (bar code, mobile, labor capture, replacement modeling, scheduling and reporting) and by mentoring staff to secure technician buy‑in for web‑based labor capture and other process changes. The result was stronger data integrity and credible internal service rates, streamlined preventive maintenance and scheduling, improved team engagement, and recognition as the 2017 Public Sector Fleet Manager of the Year.
