Case Study: Royal Mail achieves 30 years of fleet optimisation and major time & cost savings with AssetWorks

A AssetWorks Case Study

Preview of the Royal Mail Case Study

30 Years & Counting for the Royal Mail & AssetWorks Partnership

Royal Mail, one of the largest postal fleets in Europe, faced a classic fleet-management challenge: technicians recording jobs and times on paper across many UK workshops, making it hard to track assets, warranties and whole-life costs or operate efficiently at scale. Beginning in 1992, the organisation sought a paperless, standardised workflow that would reduce manual administration and improve visibility across its national operation.

AssetWorks implemented FleetFocus (initially using barcode technology) to digitise job recording, automate warranty-flagging and centralise asset and cost data, saving each technician about 15 minutes per day and unlocking significant daily labour savings across workshops. The solution improved preventative maintenance, parts management and cross-site consistency, earned Royal Mail recognition as an industry leader, and continues to evolve with a planned rollout of AssetWorks EDGE for mobile, real-time workflows—sustaining efficiency and resilience through decades of change.
