Cedars-Sinai Spine Center faced inconsistent, manual COVID-19 screening during the pandemic that strained limited staff, pulled clinical resources away from care, and risked delays and regulatory gaps. To standardize and automate screening, the Spine Center turned to Artera and its Conversation Builder to embed screening into appointment reminders.
Artera implemented Conversation Builder in a 2-day appointment reminder workflow that asked three standardized screening questions and routed high-risk responses to staff for follow-up; from July 2022–April 2023 this generated 335,024 conversations, saved 3,550 staff hours, and created 11,400 opportunities to fill slots and recover revenue. Artera’s solution eliminated same-day cancellations, reduced manual outreach, and has since expanded across 33 practices with plans for more workflows.
