Thyssenkrupp Elevator: Going Global with Product Cost Management

ThyssenKrupp Elevator faced a common global manufacturing challenge: product cost management (PCM) was limited to a few specialized cost engineers, leaving an estimated 70–90% of designs not cost-optimized across its R&D and supply chain footprint. That gap increased cost of goods sold and threatened product profitability as new parts and designs were produced continuously across centers in Germany, Spain, Italy, Korea, China, Brazil and the U.S.

TKE partnered with aPriori to deploy an enterprise PCM platform that gives designers, sourcing managers and suppliers real-time access to cost models, preliminary estimates and detailed “should-cost” analyses. With aPriori subject-matter support they accelerated configuration and rolled out a global network of 150+ PCM practitioners, enabling faster RFQs, better supplier negotiations and measurable reductions in product cost and improved profitability.
