NACCO Materials Handling Group (NMHG), a global manufacturer of Hyster®, Yale® and other lift trucks with $2.5B in revenue and 12 manufacturing sites, faced rising material costs and a slow, highly manual cost-estimating process. Cost data lived with a small team and wasn’t easily shared across global design and manufacturing centers, causing products to miss cost targets and delaying time to market.
NMHG implemented aPriori’s CAD-driven product cost platform to give designers, cost engineers and sourcing teams real-time “should cost” visibility by factory, process and material. After a pilot that uncovered savings within 24 hours, NMHG rolled the solution out across its product centers; engineers now explore more design alternatives, compress development cycles, reduce supplier quotes and re-quote parts at lower prices—helping the company meet strategic cost-reduction and time-to-market goals.
