Their Best Cost Analytics team sought technology that integrates with design and sourcing workflows, works directly with 3D CAD, and models multiple manufacturing processes to produce reliable, comparable cost targets for supplier negotiations.
HARMAN adopted aPriori (aP Pro) to create configurable digital factories and quickly generate manufacturing cost models from 3D CAD for processes like plastic molding, stamping, die casting and electro‑mechanical assembly. Those simulated cost targets enable collaborative, trust‑based negotiations, streamline the RFQ process, reduce labor overhead and supplier dispute, and are already being used to find savings on new and existing designs — with the longer‑term goal of moving to an automated Zero‑RFQ workflow.
