Pizza Hut, the long-standing pizza chain, sought to scale adoption of its 2019 mobile app and Hut Rewards program by converting high-value customers who typically ordered by phone or in-store into mobile users. To bridge the offline-to-app gap the User Acquisition team tested QR codes on in-store displays, direct mailers, and pizza box toppers and selected OneLink from AppsFlyer to power and measure the campaign with minimal development and cross-platform linking.
AppsFlyer’s OneLink enabled Pizza Hut to run a measurable, updateable QR campaign and attribute in-app events with online-level granularity. The pilot proved successful: customers who activated QR codes showed higher engagement rates and greater per-user order volume than non-app users, and a larger 2020 rollout drove robust growth in app adoption and Hut Rewards participation. AppsFlyer’s solution delivered the analytics and seamless user experience Pizza Hut needed to scale the program.
