The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) needed to hire city programme managers for its South Asian Action Plan and wanted people with strong community focus, not just traditional sport or cricket backgrounds. They worked with Applied to replace the usual CV and cover letter sift with a more accessible, skills-based hiring process.
Applied’s platform used job preview questions, anonymized and randomized applications, and automated candidate feedback to reduce bias and improve the candidate experience. The result was 50% faster sift times, with 80% of roles filled by women and 60% filled by ethnically diverse candidates, helping ECB hire more diverse talent from non-sport backgrounds.
