Careys, part of Carey Group’s engineering, construction and resource recovery business, wanted a more person-centred hiring process that would help reduce unconscious bias and attract candidates whose values aligned with the organisation. They trialled Applied as a graduate recruitment tool before expanding it across the wider business.
Applied replaced CV-led screening with role-specific behavioural questions, anonymised applications, and multi-review scoring to create a fairer, more transparent process. As a result, Careys saw stronger candidate and hiring manager engagement, with candidates rating the process 9 out of 10 on average, while also building a more engaged and relevant talent pool and improving confidence in internal hiring.
