Dixons Carphone, Europe’s leading electrical and telecommunications retailer with over 42,000 employees, faced a critical challenge preparing for Black Friday: an expected order-of-magnitude spike in site traffic and no clear way to correlate infrastructure health with the customer journey. With existing metrics unable to show real customer experience and less than two months to act, the company needed fast, end-to-end visibility to prevent slowdowns and resolve issues quickly.

Dixons deployed 1,500 AppDynamics agents across 39 front‑tier applications in two weeks, set performance baselines, opened command centers to monitor technology and customer experience, and built Business iQ dashboards for real‑time business insight. The result was record-high Black Friday sales, handling one billion database queries, immediate visibility into customer behavior (new customers, sales, searches) and much faster resolution of performance issues.
