Telnames, a London-based provider of .tel domain services for businesses and professionals, needed a billing engine to launch its wholesale channel. The company sought a cost-effective, highly customizable and scalable system that could handle multi-currency billing, consolidated invoices, multiple VAT scenarios, API provisioning integration, account credit controls and both hard- and soft-copy invoicing.

Telnames chose jBilling, an extensible open-source billing platform, customizing the UI (adding a Renewals tab and balance notifications), using built-in prepaid and permission features, and integrating invoice exports and provisioning controls. The result was a flexible, user-friendly billing solution that met functional requirements, scaled with the business and avoided heavy enterprise overhead and maintenance costs.
