InnoWave, a Lisbon-based IT services firm specializing in BSS/OSS and multimedia solutions, needed to build a reliable, scalable billing system from scratch for a highway toll project in a tight timeframe (about two months). The solution had to integrate with multiple third parties (toll collection, payment entities and concessionaires), support several customer types and complex revenue-sharing rules, and run on a robust technological infrastructure.

Innowave implemented jBilling 3 Enterprise with PostgreSQL, customizing its business rules and interfaces to handle anonymous, identified, prepaid/postpaid and exempt customers and to manage inter-operator revenue sharing. The deployment delivered rapid, flexible billing and invoicing—meeting customer expectations and supporting about 20,500 customers while processing tens of thousands of traffic detail records daily and millions overall.
