Safaricom, Kenya’s largest telecommunications provider, wanted a faster, more secure way to expose its M-PESA mobile payment APIs to partners. With Apigee API Platform, Safaricom was able to securely develop, test, and publish APIs in hours instead of weeks, using tools like Apigee Trace and proxy building. The result was an ecosystem of 4,500+ partners, 15,000+ developers onboarded, 80+ APIs exposed, and monetization through Apigee contributing 11% of B2B and B2C revenue at the start of 2019.
