Case Study: Santander improves social mobility and diverse hiring with AMS

A AMS Case Study

Preview of the Santander Case Study

Digital attraction, increasing social mobility

Santander, a global financial institution, partnered with vendor AMS and its Talent Advisory team to evolve its Early Careers programme. Their challenge was to stand out competitively to attract diverse candidates, improve their Social Mobility Index ranking, alleviate hiring bias, and share authentic employee stories to build a more inclusive workplace.

AMS implemented a solution featuring a redesigned, non-biased assessment process that hid all personal details to ensure blind hiring. They also launched an attraction campaign themed 'Setting Potential Free' and created a new website with video content from real employees. The measurable impact for Santander was significant: their Social Mobility Index ranking improved from 49th to within the UK's Top 20. They also achieved a 10% increase in diverse applications, with substantial growth in candidates from non-university and lower-income households.
