Japanese Telecom Company, one of Japan’s largest telecommunications providers, wanted to boost sales by making it easier for customers to discover SIM cards, data plans, and smartphones through social engagement. To address this, the company partnered with Amelia, using its locally known COTOHA solution to add an interactive AI-powered chat experience to its LINE messaging channel.

Amelia deployed an interactive virtual operator on the company’s official LINE account, enabling customers to answer a few questions and receive personalized product recommendations with links to purchase. The result was stronger LINE traffic, accelerated conversion to the product page, and a rise in SIM card and smartphone sales; more than half of VO interactions occurred outside business hours, and targeted marketing campaigns became 80 times more cost-effective.
