Ticketmaster - Customer Case Study

Ticketmaster, North America’s leading online ticketing platform (now part of Live Nation with over 26 million monthly unique visitors), partnered with analytics firm MarketShare to build Pricemaster, a dynamic ticket‑pricing application. MarketShare needed an infrastructure that could handle complex MATLAB simulations, an intricate cluster architecture and highly variable analytic workloads while avoiding large upfront capital expense.

They deployed Pricemaster on AWS using Amazon EC2 (large and x‑large nodes), RDS, Elastic Load Balancing, SimpleDB, EMR, SES and CloudWatch, with a messaging/zookeeper‑based workflow for math slaves and application servers. The AWS architecture cut developers’ infrastructure management time by about three hours per day and is estimated to reduce annual costs by over 80% versus fixed service models, while delivering a flexible, secure and scalable solution MarketShare continues to expand.
