Preview of the Lenovo Case Study

Lenovo Brazil Improves Supply and Demand Balance with DataRobot, AWS

Lenovo, a global technology company generating $43 billion in revenue, sought to improve its retail performance in Brazil—an important emerging market—by predicting sell-out volumes to better align inventory, logistics, and marketing. The Lenovo Brazil team lacked the internal resources and scalable modeling capability to produce reliable short-term forecasts, which hampered timely decision-making with local retailers and stakeholders.

Lenovo implemented DataRobot’s automated machine learning platform on AWS to automate model building and forecasting. The solution delivers accurate sell-out predictions up to four weeks ahead, enabling proactive inventory and retail actions; model creation time fell from four weeks to three days, production time from two days to five minutes, and prediction accuracy rose from under 80% to 87.5%, improving supply-and-demand balance for Lenovo and its Brazilian retail partners.
