Case Study: Salesforce achieves greater scalability and availability with Amazon Web Services

A Amazon Web Services Case Study

Preview of the Salesforce Case Study

How Salesforce in the software industry modernized its on-premises infrastructure by migrating to AWS

Salesforce needed to scale its observability platform beyond its on-premises limits to handle rapidly growing telemetry, metrics, logs, dashboards, and alerts. Working with Amazon Web Services, Salesforce moved the platform toward the cloud using AWS services and AWS Migration Acceleration Program support to improve scalability and availability while controlling costs.

Amazon Web Services helped Salesforce redesign the observability platform on AWS, including services such as Amazon RDS and Amazon EKS, so it could ingest about 2 billion metrics per minute and more than 1 PB of logs. The result was 99.99% availability for alerting, over 99.9% for dashboarding and querying, the ability to add capacity in one day instead of days or weeks, and 10–15% of team time freed up for innovation, with continued cost savings per unit.
