A Amazon SES Case Study

Vodafone - Customer Case Study

Vodafone, via its Italy business, needed a secure, scalable way for customers to top up prepaid SIMs online without logging in while meeting PCI DSS Level 1 requirements and handling unpredictable demand. To meet fast time-to-market and strict security needs, Vodafone adopted AWS services including Amazon SES as part of the solution stack.

Working with an AWS partner, Vodafone launched the TopUp without Login service on an AWS architecture (EC2, VPC, EBS, S3 and Amazon SES for transactional messaging), decoupling middleware and adding multichannel front ends (web, mobile, Facebook). The Amazon SES–enabled deployment went live in three months, expanded to seven channels, grew from ~1,000 to several thousand transactions per day, achieved up to 99.99% availability, maintained PCI DSS compliance, and reduced capital expenses by about 30%.
