Scotts Miracle‑Gro, a leading manufacturer of consumer lawn, garden, and pest control products, needed an agile, scalable way to gather real‑time consumer insights to keep pace with a rapidly evolving market and millions of new gardeners. To move faster while keeping the voice of the consumer central, Scotts partnered with Alida in September 2020 to build an always‑on online insights community called The Scotts Miracle‑Gro Greenhouse.
Using Alida’s platform, The Scotts Miracle‑Gro Greenhouse recruited nearly 2,000 diverse U.S. consumers and has launched almost 100 activities since launch — from brief surveys and multi‑day discussion boards to 1:1 interviews, in‑home product tests, and photo/video submissions — delivering responses in hours rather than days or weeks. Alida’s community has accelerated Scotts’ speed to market, surfaced early red flags for course correction, enabled iterative co‑creation across categories (lawn care, live plants, rodent and weed control, bagged soil, and more), and strengthened consumer relationships that directly inform product and marketing decisions.
