A ALEX Case Study
Medtronic, a health care company with about 26,000 US-based, benefits-eligible employees, needed a better way to communicate benefits: remove insurance jargon to boost engagement, avoid traveling and shutting production lines for enrollment meetings, and reach employees’ spouses, partners and families.
They deployed ALEX, an interactive benefits guide that used everyday language and humor to educate and advise. The tool drove strong adoption—23,000 unique users (representing more than 90% of employees) and 97% of surveyed employees found the medical insurance module helpful—while allowing Medtronic to keep production lines running, reduce travel, and successfully reach families.
