Supporting a large-scale Turnaround with evolving requirements during the pandemic

A major refining company in Wales required extensive temporary power solutions for a large-scale plant turnaround, a project made more complex by evolving needs and the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although they had worked with Aggreko on smaller projects, the customer initially had concerns about the vendor's ability to deliver on this larger scope. The challenge was to prove Aggreko's capability, provide flexible and competitive power options, and ensure a successful project start with zero downtime.

Aggreko implemented a comprehensive solution featuring over 10 generators, three 6.3 MVA transformers, and five 1,500 kW power units to deliver high and low voltage power across the site. The offering also included temperature control and dehumidification, supporting key process units and ancillary areas like the contractor village. Despite last-minute changes, Aggreko adapted swiftly, achieving 100% uptime for the turnaround. This success, which safely supported nearly 5,500 personnel during the pandemic, secured a strong customer relationship and plans for future projects.
