A Aggreko Case Study
The customer, an NOC/IOC Joint Venture company, faced a challenge in maximizing the propylene yield from its PP-splitter, which was being negatively impacted by high seasonal water temperatures. This issue forced a reduction in the unit's capacity and risked flaring. They engaged Aggreko to engineer a bespoke process enhancement solution to overcome this without compromising output.
Aggreko's solution integrated four mobile air chillers to reinject cooled water into the feedline at a precise temperature of 36.5°C. This restored the crucial equilibrium in the PP-splitter, stabilizing the process. The results were significant: a 4.2% increase in recovery yield to 99.8%, 100% on-spec production during critical hours, and an estimated financial benefit of $17 million over 120 days, all while eliminating flaring.
