The customer, CITIC Pacific Mining, faced the challenge of load testing its new 450 MW on-site power station for a major iron ore mine in Western Australia and required substantial back-up power to maintain its construction schedule. To solve this, the vendor, Aggreko, was brought in to supply the necessary loadbanks and temporary power generation.

Aggreko implemented a solution that included supplying and dispatching 14 loadbanks and 2.5 MW of back-up power. This allowed the customer to successfully test and commission their massive power plant while also powering critical construction phases. The measurable impact was the full commissioning of the 450 MW plant, which powers the entire mining operation, and the uninterrupted progress on other construction projects at the remote site.
