A Aggreko Case Study
Energía Solar Cachanilla (ESCO), a company supplying energy to Mexico's Baja California peninsula, faced a projected power deficit for the summer of 2020. Its challenge was to rapidly install a power generation solution that could operate in the harsh conditions of Mexicali and, critically, had the flexibility to handle two different natural gas sources after a disruption in the original fuel supply. Aggreko provided a temporary power generation service to meet this seasonal peak demand.
Aggreko implemented a comprehensive solution, mobilizing 48 MW of natural gas generators across two sites in less than 90 days despite pandemic restrictions. When the primary gas supply failed, Aggreko's flexible technology was adapted to run on LNG delivered via a virtual pipeline, ensuring an uninterrupted fuel supply for 100 days. This allowed ESCO to successfully meet its obligations, incorporating 48 MW into the grid to benefit 3.3 million residents during a period of peak demand.
