Extra offshore power for output and decommissioning

An offshore platform operator in the North Sea faced a challenge requiring extra power for new water injection pumps to increase output, as well as for a future decommissioning process. With no available space or power on the platform and a need to avoid a large capital expenditure, they partnered with Aggreko for a modular power solution.

Aggreko implemented a bespoke high-voltage package featuring five generators and two transformers, which was dismantled and lifted onto the platform piece by piece. This solution provided 5 MW of reliable power for 12 years, enabling a five-year production increase and a safe decommissioning process. By preventing costly production losses and power failures, Aggreko's involvement ultimately extended the platform's operational life.
