Cooling the interior of a mine with difficult access

One of the world's largest gold mining groups needed to rapidly cool its underground mine in Brazil to improve dangerous working conditions and enable a planned expansion, but was hindered by the site's difficult access. The vendor, Aggreko, provided a turn-key cooling solution to address this urgent challenge.

Aggreko implemented a complete managed solution, supplying 2,000 tons of cooling capacity with chillers, cooling towers, and special air coolers. The system was installed 4 km from the mine's office and featured remote monitoring. This achieved the ideal internal temperature, which ensured employee safety, prevented equipment downtime, and allowed the mine to expand production, ultimately generating financial benefits for the company.
