Case Study: a global leading steel manufacturer maintains 13°C oxygen cooling through summer heat with Aggreko

A Aggreko Case Study

Preview of the Global Leading Steel Manufacturer Case Study

Cooling for steel mill’s oxygen process line during rising heat in the summer months

A major global steel manufacturer in South Korea faced a significant challenge when summer temperatures reached 43°C, compromising the cooling water for its oxygen processing unit. This threatened to disrupt production and cause quality control failures. The manufacturer needed a temporary solution to supplement its cooling capacity and maintain a precise water temperature of 13°C, so it engaged Aggreko for support.

Aggreko engineered a turnkey solution by installing an 800kW air chiller to integrate with the existing system. This setup cooled 250 tons of water per hour and operated uninterrupted for 90 days. The solution provided by Aggreko ensured the steel mill could meet its stringent production schedules and environmental goals, safeguarding its reputation and avoiding any contractual fines.
