Aggreko provided a large refinery in Iraq with a comprehensive off-grid power solution to address the country's severe and unreliable national grid. The refinery, which required continuous and clean power for its vital processes, faced the risk of regular shutdowns and production losses after the government prioritized residential power consumption, all within a challenging and hostile security environment.

Aggreko engineered and installed a 25 MW turnkey power plant, complete with bespoke switch gear and extensive security measures including perimeter walls and armed guards. All personnel received hostile environment training, and a local workforce was hired and trained. The solution eliminated power outages, which had previously cost hours of downtime. This resulted in production loss rates being cut in half from 37% to 17%, a 13% increase in refined crude oil, and over $30 million in savings, extending a originally two-year project into its fifth year of successful operation.
