A Advantech Case Study
Carrefour Taiwan, seeking to distinguish itself by improving service and customer experience, partnered with Advantech (with Intel) to move beyond traditional retailing. Facing challenges such as uneven staffing during peak hours, the need for real-time store performance insights, and a corporate goal of “zero-customer-complaints,” Carrefour selected Advantech’s intelligent retail solutions — notably the UShop+ platform, traffic analytics, digital signage (WebAccess/IMM), IAQ sensors and in‑store UTC‑532 touch terminals — to modernize operations and shopper experience.
Advantech implemented an integrated UShop+ solution: UShop+ Store Traffic Analytics (using eight 2D UCAMs per store) and cloud BI for manpower optimization, a Customer Feedback System rolled out to over 100 Carrefour stores, centralized digital signage management, in‑store air‑quality monitoring (auto‑response above 800 ppm CO2) and interactive e‑catalogues. The deployment gave store and regional managers cross‑store visibility to optimize staffing and promotions, supported Carrefour’s customer‑satisfaction targets, and helped establish Taiwan’s first smart hypermarket; Advantech’s solutions are now live across 100+ Carrefour locations with measurable operational and service improvements.
