Lenovo Partners with ADP for a Scalable Global Payroll Solution That is Timely, Efficient, and Provides Effective Governance

Lenovo, a global PC maker with about 27,000 employees across more than 60 countries, faced growing payroll and HR administration challenges after its 2004–05 merger and subsequent reliance on an incumbent outsourcing provider. By 2010 that arrangement lacked the flexibility and efficiency needed to support rapid international growth, so Lenovo set out to consolidate and better govern multicountry payroll—asking a partner to transition 47 countries to a single global payroll in nine months.

Lenovo engaged ADP in January 2011 and implemented ADP Streamline, standardizing processes and tools while keeping final payroll approval in-house; eight Lenovo payroll centers now send predefined data to ADP, which integrates local expertise. The solution improved control and timeliness, achieved 99.5% accuracy, expanded coverage to 51 countries, and delivers gross-to-net reports, bank payment files, and general ledger files—boosting internal efficiency and governance.
