Wind Farm avoids 10 weeks of downtime with ACOEM's Shock Finder™

A wind farm in France faced frequent unplanned downtimes and high maintenance costs due to undetected main bearing failures in its 1.5 MW wind turbine, risking expensive gearbox replacements and long production losses. To address this, they implemented Acoem's Shock Finder Index (SFI) monitoring technology.

Using Acoem's Shock Finder methodology, the solution continuously monitored the turbine's main bearing and successfully detected early-stage cracks by identifying abnormal shock events. This early detection allowed the wind farm to proactively replace the bearing for €15k, saving an estimated €72k in production by reducing downtime from a potential 10 weeks to just 1 week, and avoiding over €250k in further gearbox damage. Acoem's solution enabled a definitive shift from reactive to proactive maintenance.
