Union Bank of India Delivers Remittances at ATMs

Union Bank of India, a 92‑year‑old bank headquartered in Mumbai with 3,320 branches, 4,200 ATMs and more than 30 million customers, was struggling with rapidly growing domestic remittances (about US$50 billion annually) that created long lines and over‑stretched branch staff. To provide 24x7 self‑service remittance access and relieve branch pressure, Union Bank turned to ACI Worldwide and its BASE24 payments engine to develop an ATM‑based remittance channel.

Using ACI Worldwide’s BASE24, Union Bank launched Remittances@ATM across its 4,200 ATMs, enabling NEFT, IMPS and Union eCash transactions at any ATM. The rollout improved customer satisfaction with fast, around‑the‑clock service, significantly reduced branch congestion, freed staff for higher‑value work, made Union Bank the first in India to offer inter‑bank transfers via ATMs, and positions the bank to earn future fee‑based income.
