Top-25 Bank Boosts Loan Portfolio Performance with Debit Card Payment Processing

U.S. Bank, a top‑25 U.S. bank, wanted to improve loan portfolio performance by making it as easy as possible for customers to pay. To expand low‑cost, convenient payment options beyond online banking, U.S. Bank selected ACI Worldwide’s ACI Speedpay solutions to accept debit card and ACH payments across its website, IVR and call center.

ACI Worldwide implemented ACI Speedpay (and later integrated treasury management and an outbound IVR) to validate payments in real time and simplify reconciliation. As a result, debit‑card loan payments doubled over two years, delinquency cure rates rose by double digits, on‑time payments increased, customer service payment calls fell by one‑third, staff time on payment exceptions was virtually eliminated, and funds began settling next business day — materially boosting portfolio performance and cash flow.
