The BENEFIT Company brings online payments to Bahrain

The BENEFIT Company, Bahrain’s national provider of ancillary financial services owned by 14 commercial banks, needed a low‑cost, secure way to bring eCommerce and online payments to the country because individual banks could not afford the complexity and expense of building their own platforms. To meet this challenge, The BENEFIT Company partnered with ACI Worldwide and selected the ACI Commerce Gateway solution to create a shared national payments gateway.

Working with ACI Worldwide, The BENEFIT Company implemented a central gateway that supports internet, kiosk and IVR channels, major card brands (VISA, MasterCard, Amex, JCB and local debit), integration with the national switch and real‑time settlement, and ASP delivery to member banks. The ACI solution enabled fast merchant onboarding, relieved banks of integration burdens, and attracted more than 100 clients — including all government bodies and major telecoms — and nine acquirers, helping eCommerce take off across Bahrain.
