MasterCard uses BASE24-eps as the core processing engine for its Mastercard Integrated Processing Solutions™ (IPS), a single-connection platform launched in 2008 that delivers debit and prepaid processing, ATM driving, exception processing, fraud management and card inventory management. Facing rising electronic payments and changing fraud patterns, MasterCard needed more adaptive systems and transaction filtering to improve the efficiency of its fraud detection tools and to block high-risk transactions in real time; BASE24-eps was chosen for ACI Worldwide’s experience, research and 24x7 platform availability.
ACI Worldwide implemented BASE24-eps’s transaction filtering component to block prohibited transactions and filter out those with a high probability of fraud so only higher-risk transactions are sent to real-time fraud tools or blocked outright. As a result, cardholders see fewer fraudulent postings to their accounts and MasterCard’s corporate clients experience reductions in the direct cost of fraud and the indirect cost of lost customer relationships—demonstrating measurable improvements in fraud prevention driven by ACI Worldwide’s solution.
