A ACI Worldwide Case Study
LCEC, a regional utility provider, faced a 2009 payments landscape dominated by cash and checks and costly walk-in bill payment centers that ran $3M per year (about 60% of their annual budget). To expand convenient payment options and reduce operating costs, LCEC partnered with ACI Worldwide and adopted ACI Universal Payments, including the ACI Fee-Based Payments hosted, PCI-compliant service.
ACI Worldwide delivered a consistent multi-channel payment platform—web, mobile, IVR and authorized payment stations—allowing LCEC to accept card payments without bearing interchange costs. As a result, mailed checks dropped from 60% of payments to 20% (by September 2013), 66% of payments are now electronic, two payment centers were closed saving $3M annually, and customer satisfaction increased by 10%.
