A ACI Worldwide Case Study
Hy-Vee, Inc., an employee‑owned grocery and drugstore chain with more than 200 stores across seven Midwestern states, needed to reduce reliance on a single third‑party payments processor and gain in‑house control of debit, credit, EBT, check and gift‑card transaction routing and authorization. To address this, Hy‑Vee selected ACI Worldwide and deployed ACI’s enterprise payments software (including Retail Commerce Server and UP Merchant Payments solutions) to support multi‑channel acquisition, authentication, routing and switching.
ACI Worldwide implemented an in‑house payments switch, gift‑card and check‑authorization modules, and store‑and‑forward capability, enabling least‑cost transaction routing, internal hosting of the gift‑card program with virtually no incremental cost per transaction, and reduced fraud exposure. As a result Hy‑Vee, Inc. eliminated dependence on a single processor, significantly lowered processing costs, improved payment reliability and flexibility across channels, and gained scalable control over its payments operations — outcomes Hy‑Vee attributes to ACI Worldwide.
