Giant Eagle Soars with ACI® Omni-Commerce™ Solution

Giant Eagle, a supermarket chain operating more than 155 stores with approximately US$6.2 billion in annual sales, faced an urgent payments challenge: Pennsylvania’s EBT requirements and aging payments-switch hardware and software that were reaching end of life and no longer met functional needs. To address this, Giant Eagle selected ACI Worldwide and its ACI Omni-Commerce™ suite, specifically ACI Retail Commerce Server for Electronic Payment Acceptance and ACI Retail Commerce Server for Check Authorization.

ACI Worldwide implemented the Retail Commerce Server solutions to authorize and capture credit, debit, EBT, check and other transactions and to provide fast check authorization and tracking. The deployment delivered reliable, hardware-independent payments processing, reduced customer checkout wait times, enabled prompt returned-check handling, and produced cost savings that allowed Giant Eagle to buy multiple servers for distributed processing and hot backups — concrete operational improvements attributed to ACI Worldwide’s solution.
