Auto Lender Bank, a $1 billion asset lender, faced rising customer demand for easier auto loan payments beyond checks and call-center processing. To modernize payments while avoiding credit card transactions for compliance reasons, the bank turned to ACI Worldwide and its UP Bill Payment solutions to offer additional electronic payment options.
ACI Worldwide implemented a debit card and ACH processing platform (UP Bill Payment) across mobile, web, IVR and call-center channels with tokenization, encryption and PCI/GLBA/NACHA compliance; the service was free to the bank with consumer-paid one-time fees. The result: debit card payments grew at a 37% CAGR over five years (ACH 0% CAGR), debit chargebacks were just 0.06% versus 10% ACH returns, and the bank collected more payments, reduced errors and saved staff time—ACI Worldwide will also support the bank’s planned rollout of recurring payments (13–15% initial adoption projected).
