A Accertify Case Study
easyJet, one of Europe’s largest low-cost carriers with the majority of bookings conducted online, faced rising exposure to “card not present” fraud as its ecommerce business grew. Needing to protect revenue while keeping the booking experience fast and simple, the airline initially deployed Accertify’s rules-based Fraud Management but sought a more scalable, predictive approach to handle complex, high-volume international transactions.
Working with Accertify Decision Sciences, easyJet moved from hundreds of hard rules to statistical and machine‑learning models (logistic regression and GBM), automating real‑time, probability‑based fraud decisions. The new approach cut potential cases of fraud by 44%, reduced manual review referrals by a further 26% (on top of an initial 61% drop from automation), lowered chargebacks, halved the fraud referral queue and allowed more focused, efficient analyst reviews.
