Cabela’s, a leading outdoor retailer and subsidiary of Bass Pro Shops with nearly 100 stores and global catalog distribution, faced rising eCommerce fraud and inefficient, manual chargeback processes. Their legacy fraud system lacked machine learning and community data, couldn’t scale for an anticipated post‑merger transaction surge, and was vulnerable after the EMV liability shift.
After merging with BPS Direct, Cabela’s implemented Accertify’s Interceptas®, Fraud Management, Profile Builder and Chargeback Management, gaining real‑time rules, machine‑learning analytics and streamlined workflows. Results included an 88% reduction in Cabela’s fraud chargebacks (73% at BPS), a 50%+ increase in chargeback win rate, 58% fewer fraud cancels (76% at BPS), an 82% drop in manual reviews, manual review times cut to ~90 seconds, and operational gains that helped stop a $185K bot attack and prevent daily losses of over $20K.
