Best Buy Europe, trading as The Carphone Warehouse, is a leading mobile communications retailer with more than 2,400 stores and £3.5 billion in sales. After the rollout of Chip and PIN shifted fraud to card-not-present channels, the retailer needed a more flexible, data‑driven fraud-prevention solution to reduce fraud without increasing lost sales.
In October 2010 the company implemented Accertify’s Interceptas platform, using its advanced rules engine, positive/negative lists, automation and authentication tools. Within 22 weeks chargebacks fell by more than 50%, average transaction value rose 13%, the share of orders processed without manual review increased 12%, four FTEs were redeployed, and customer experience and revenues improved.
