The City of Weston, Florida partnered with Accela to modernize its development services while tackling the challenge of improving service delivery to residents and staff and continuing to support on‑premises Accela software — all amid major disruptions from the COVID‑19 pandemic. Weston needed to reduce IT overhead, liability from internal connections and physical processes, and make upgrades easier to manage.

Weston migrated Accela to a SaaS environment on Microsoft Azure and implemented Power BI dashboards, enabling touchless online permitting and real‑time reporting. The move removed datacenter maintenance burdens, reduced resources required for upgrades, improved payment security and operational visibility, and kept public services running smoothly during the pandemic.
