Solution Keeps Citizens Near and Far Engaged in Local Government

Hernando County, Florida’s government broadcasting faced outdated video systems and a cumbersome VHS/DVD workflow that forced citizens to fill out forms and pay for recordings. The process was time‑consuming and costly, limiting public access to meetings and local programming.

The County implemented Accela Civic Streaming from Accela’s Legislative Management suite, adding an encoder and a searchable Hernando County Media Center. In the first year they recorded and uploaded about 290 programs, added time‑stamped playback and download capability, reduced information requests and production costs, and improved remote access for residents and reporters.
