City of St. Michael Realizes Self-Sufficiency in the Cloud

The City of St. Michael, Minnesota, faced operational and security challenges after remaining on an older, on-premises Accela system. With a small finance team and outsourced IT, the city needed updated functionality, stronger data security, and a cost-effective alternative to expensive hardware and consultant-led upgrades.

In May 2017 St. Michael migrated to Accela’s cloud-based SaaS, gaining automatic feature updates, built-in security controls and reduced hardware, software and staffing costs. The move made software maintenance self-sufficient, freed staff to focus on core services, and delivered ongoing operational and financial efficiencies.
