Changing the position and prominence of a key mobile menu

CuisineActuelle, a French cooking magazine, needed to improve engagement on its mobile site by making a key burger-style menu more visible and clickable. To test design and placement options they partnered with AB Tasty to run A/B tests on several variations of the menu button.

AB Tasty tested three variations that added a circular container and inverted colors while moving the button to different positions (original, right, bottom); the version moved to the right produced a 1295.6% increase in clicks. The experiment by AB Tasty shows how small mobile design changes can drive dramatic engagement gains (contextually supported by a National Readership Survey finding that digital presence can increase magazine reach by 104%).
