Indiana University Health transforms its hiring process with HealthcareSource

Indiana University Health, a 17-location healthcare system, faced a slow, inefficient hiring process that took 80–100 days to fill RN positions. An antiquated applicant-tracking system caused lost applications, poor follow-up, limited reporting and dissatisfied recruiters, hiring managers and candidates, while the organization still lacked a way to screen for patient-service behaviors tied to HCAHPS scores and retention.

IU Health implemented HealthcareSource Position Manager and integrated Staff Assessment and Leadership Assessment to automate screening, notifications and behavioral evaluations. Within months time-to-fill fell to 30–40 days, first-year RN turnover dropped from 33% to 17%, recruiters and leaders gained on-demand metrics and customized interview guidance, and the organization realized strong ROI at roughly one-third the cost of its prior system.
