Telefónica, a global telecommunications provider operating under brands like Movistar, O2 and Vivo, needed to grow Think Big — its technology and trends blog — by attracting relevant, well-connected readers in Spain and Latin America. The challenge was to expand the audience cost‑effectively with followers who were more likely to engage and amplify content than typical organic followers.

Using Audiense, Telefónica built highly targeted Twitter lists (filtered by location, bio keywords, activity, follower counts and personality signals) and ran promoted campaigns directly from the platform. The effort drove 30,000 new followers who proved more influential and active than organic additions — on average ~1,000 more followers per acquired user and roughly 6,500 more tweets per user during the period — and continued to interact with the account, improving campaign ROI.
